The EC motor is remarkably efficient, enabling tradesmen to work longer per battery charge compared to conventional DC motors. The motor is also dustproof, durable, compact and entirely maintenance-free. Furthermore, its high efficiency reduces heat loss and overheating. Bosch’s Electronic Motor Protection (EMP) protects the tools against overload, shutting the motor down immediately if it stalls.

As a result of all these factors, the lifetime of the GBH 18 V-EC is much longer than that of tools with conventional motors. It can also hammer up to 115 holes in concrete (6 x 40mm) with only one battery charge and achieves single impact energy of 1.7 joules.
